About The Park

 

Tucked away in a shady pocket of Lincoln Park (on Racine Avenue, one block south of Wrightwood Avenue), Supera Park is a cherished neighborhood hub. This 0.42-acre park features a wonderful, new ADA-accessible playground with a soft surface, complete with a popular pirate ship-themed climbing structure and a sandbox that is a favorite spot for local children and their parents!

Since its original development in 1950 to meet the needs of a growing Chicago, the park has been lovingly maintained, most recently undergoing a major rehabilitation to ensure it remains a safe and fun place for our community. Its current name, Supera Park, honors former resident Louis Supera (renamed from Racine-Draper Park in 1990), who made major contributions to the community through his support of groups like the Better Boys Club and the Lincoln Park Conservation Association.

Introducing the Supera Toy Box

Aarr mateys! There’s a new treasure at our park! Our pirate ship playground and sandbox give kids a place to dig, explore and dream up their own adventures, and now our community toy box adds to the fun. Families are welcome to donate gently used toys that still have plenty of play left in them for other children to enjoy at the park. Please label each toy with the labels provided inside the box. When playtime is over, please return all toys to the designated box to keep them safe and ready for the next adventure.

We're also looking for someone who has a special place in their heart for Supera Park. We have a great group of volunteers already, but we'd love to find someone willing to help champion the park, organize occasional fun activities, and keep the momentum going.
